DOTS.recycling- 3D animation
Client: DOTS.recycling
Roles: 3D animator & Animation lead
Breif: Make an animation following the storytelling of a voicerecording.
Our client wanted to video to show for internal presentation for investors and potential client.
They wanted to simplify their complex recycling, upcycling and reusing process for better understanding and easy digestion.
We had in total of 30 sec to devide the process into chewable sizes in a animation.
Made with Blender, After Effects & Premiere Pro
Our original idea was to create a reel with different zone, representing the different usage of the resuaed tennisball. Due to time limit, we changed this around, but I still really like the idea.
Final storyboard and styleframes. I few changes in the 3th last frame was made last second. This was by the clients request.
Our animation was revolving around these Tennisball bins and the process that happens after it has been picked up.
Our inspiration of style ended up being very minimalistic, almost in a clinic way, with only a few colors and multiple materials.
Idea for the furst shot, with a tennis court painted on a wall. This would make it easier for the audiance to understand, without having to change too much with our camera in order to get a clear vision.
Colors and style presented by the client. We used this to base the style of the animation and color choises.
My responsability outside of animation lead, was to animate the final scene with the two balls. Here is the material testing for the rubberball beside the tennisball with it's hole from the chair.
During this animation, I struggle a lot with the particles, that for some reason just did not work for me. After multiple days where neither we nor my colleages could figure out why the particles was behaving the way it did in my program, I finally made it work. This is the image I send to my colleauges and it explains a lot how I am to work with. I like self irony and I am not scared to make a little fun out of a fustraiting situation.
What did I animate?
The last scene of the animation, where to two balls seperated and the globe started to turn around was my task, beside guiding my team mates with their animation piecese.
