The Booknook - Game Development
Entrepreneurial Internship project
Goal: Create an early demo of a game within 3 month
I always wanted to create a game from scratch, and I finally had the ability to do so! lucky me!
The Booknook is a cozy puzzle game that you can play in your own speed and own duration. The meaning of the game is for it to be easy to pick up without too much macanics or storylines to remember.
The idea of the game is to try different chapters of a book, taking you to a small café, out in the woods or perhaps even inside a witch brewing room. Each chapter has it’s own story you need to solve in order to finish the chapter.
Don’t be shy! Grab your favorite snack and drink and unwind a little while getting lost in a book.
Made with Blender & Unreal Engine
Assets pack for outside of the house
Assets pack for inside the house
Assets pack for the Libary
Assets pack for a future room
All items avalible for pick up, will have an icon similare to the buckets icon
The idea was that the player can press on so many things, and never really know what to expect. I want the player to explore just to see what happens when they click in X Y or Z. As you can see here... there is a lot of things to press.
The first prototype starts with this house where a tutorial will play for you, explaining how to operate the game and what to look out for. Once the turotial has finished, you are able to sit in the libary and toogle through a book and the real game will begin then.
Inside the libary. This is where the game will begin. You will pick up the pink book and you can turn pages in order to choose different "rooms" to play.
Close ups and “painting” progress
I had a lot of fun and a huge learning experiance making this game!
Will I ever finish and publish it? Who knows?! I love the idea and the simple style so it’s not completely unrealistic.
This demo and game would not have made it this far without my amazing programmer MortMort - Who made it so easy for me to build the game in Unreal.
I also want to give a big shout out to Samie Maria Corell, who was my trust mentor and best cheerleader you could wish for.
